Photos

I understand that in some cases where a pet is no longer with us, that your photos may be quite limited. As coloured pencil is such a detailed medium, I need to see detail in order to draw it and cannot work from photos that are too poor.

Sometimes we can gather enough photos to get the detail we need but sometimes not, and in these cases I’m afraid I won’t be able to help.

Digital photos are quicker and easier to send. Please don’t risk sending me hard copies of treasured photos in the post in case anything happens to them.

Ordering

1) All the details we agree for your portrait will be added to a quote that I will ask you to approve. This will be our contract of agreement. It will confirm:

  • The pose and composition of the portrait (with a photo mock-up).

  • The size of the drawing.

  • The paper colour chosen.

  • Anything outside of the “standard” offer, such as larger sizes, inclusion of multiple pets, different colour paper, including a background.

  • The date I will start the drawing and aim to finish.

  • The cost.

Please note that it will not be possible to make significant changes once drawing has started so please check the order carefully.

2) A drawing can only be scheduled once payment has been received.

4) I will keep you updated with pictures of my progress as I go if you would like. This is just for fun. Again - it will not be easy to make changes at this point.

5) It can take up to a week to complete the drawing, depending on the size.

6) When the portrait is finished, I will email you a watermarked picture of the completed portrait so you can see the final piece before I invoice you for the remaining balance. This must be paid before I can post the portrait to you.

7) I will post the portrait to you within 2 working days of receiving payment.

Payments

1) The deposit will be 50% of the total cost of the portrait and postage.

2) I will send you an invoice electronically unless you require it by post.

3) The invoice should be paid on receipt to guarantee your slot in my schedule.

4) The deposit is non-refundable should you later decide not to go ahead.

5) I will invoice you for the remaining balance of 50% on completion. This must be paid before I can post the portrait to you.

6) Payments can be made either by direct bank transfer to my account details which I will provide you with, or via a secure payment link on an electronic copy of the invoice.

Postage

I pack my portraits very carefully to ensure they reach you in perfect condition.

I use Royal Mail Special Delivery Guaranteed service to get your portrait to you in the UK wherever this service is available.

This is a fully tracked and insured service. In the unlikely event that your portrait is damaged while in the post, please retain it and all the packaging as evidence in order to make a claim for compensation.

I will try my best to draw your portrait again as quickly as possible but timing will depend on my schedule.

If you live near to me in West London then I may be able to deliver to you.

Social media and marketing

It really helps my business if I can share the portraits I draw on social media - this could be in the form of progress pictures or a “making of” video or other content.

I would always ask your permission to do this first. Where a portrait is being gifted as a surprise, this is especially important.

My business is called “Polly Munslow Pet Portraits and Prints” but rest assured that the pet portraits and the prints are two separate parts. I never make prints of your portraits or any other printed merchandise. If I wanted to use a portrait on my marketing materials such as flyers or business cards then again, I would ask your permission first.

Testimonials for my website are very helpful for business and very gratefully received!
